Police  Release  Agba Jalingo  On Bail

The  Nigerian police last night released CrossRiverWatch Publisher, Citizen Agba Jalingo on bail after hiding him from his lawyers and other activists for hours.

Mr. Jalingo was arrested at his Ogudu residence in Lagos State on Friday following a petition from the wife of Mr. Frank Ayade, brother to Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade for alleged defamation and infringement of her integrity.

He was then flown to Abuja, the FCT  at about 5.00 PM  on Saturday. The policemen accompanying him whisked him away after touching down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to an unknown destination. This led to a frantic search for his whereabouts. Associates of Citizen Agba Jalingo told NOHR  that the policemen had said he will be detained at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, but switched off their phones after zooming off.

Hours later at about 9:15 PM, he was eventually released to a relative who signed his bail bond and was asked to report back at the Abattoir police station on Monday morning.
