Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has raised alarm over what he described as attempts on his life.  In a post on his social media handle, the human rights lawyer said that his life is under serious threat from people he failed to name.

“ In recent times, I have noticed and been warned of attempts upon my life, based purely on my convictions, advocacies, and actions, especially in relation to the campaign for good governance, rule of law and accountability,” he said

Restating his political views, the human rights lawyer said he does not belong to any political party and has no political affiliation in any manner whatsoever. “My training, professionally and spiritually, is to be of service to the people, to mentor people, secure justice and to transform lives, for good”.

This is not the first time the lawyer is raising alarm over his safety. In November 2021,

Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has raised the alarm over what he described as “vicious attacks” on members of the Lagos Judicial Panel of Enquiry on Police Brutality following the group’s submission of its report.

The lawyer who represented civil society on the panel came under heavy criticism and media attack from supporters of the ruling party after the Panel submitted its report on September 15, 2021.

The judicial panel had reported the Lekki Tollgate shootings of October 20, 2020, as a massacre and indicted Nigeria’s security agents in the killing and forced disappearances of harmless and unarmed youths protesting at Lekki Tollgate on October 20, 2020.
