Police Brutality: Delta Police Detain Officers Caught On Video Maltreating Woman

Delta State Police Command, on Sunday, said it had a video recording, that has since gone viral, showing “some policemen in the state manhandling a woman in a dehumanising manner”.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, the command said that  “after a careful examination of the video clip, it is clear and obvious that the policemen acted in an unprofessional manner unbecoming of police officers”.

The statement further condemned the act of the policemen, stressing that no citizen deserved to be treated in such a manner.

The disturbing video,  which has since gone viral, shows two police officers and two civilians, forcibly restraining a naked woman on the ground, tying her hands backward with a rope.

While the circumstances leading up to this appalling incident remain unclear, the video has sparked widespread condemnation and prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the matter. The police officers were said to be from Agbarho Division in Delta state.

The police authorities said the affected officers “have been identified, summoned, and detained at the command headquarters”.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali has directed that internal disciplinary action be initiated immediately, and at the end of their orderly room trial, members of the public will be intimated on the outcome. Said the police statement
