Several veteran movie actors and entertainers including Jide Kosoko and  Fausat Balogun aka Madam Saje have joined the Action Campaign initiative of the Lagos state government to address air pollution in the state.

The entertainers were part of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) team who recently carried out an advocacy outreach in  Ibeshe, a coastal community in the Oriade Local Council Development Area of the State.

General Manager of LASEPA, Dolapo Fasawe while speaking at the event said that the agency has deployed different strategies to internalize the message of Clean Air among all residents through the use of drama, poetry, board games, and songs.

“The State Government realised that to curb the trend of rising sea levels, urgent attention must be paid to global warming and climate change through constant advocacy and recycling of non-degradable materials,” she said.

On  2 August 2022, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State announced that the government will launch a N20 billion Green Fund Initiative to address challenges of global climate change in the state. According to him, the scheme will be a composite housing project jointly developed by the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation, LSDPC, and Brook Assets and Resources Limited, a private real estate developer.

Also, in August during the 9th international Climate Change Summit  in Lagos  which held under the theme: “Integrating Climate Actions in Lagos Development: Investment Opportunities and Trade-offs.” The state government said its’  Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has signed up to the $15 million UK AID Climate Action Implementation Programme, which will support cities to accelerate the implementation of their Climate Action Plans (CAPs), and that the  State Government was at an advanced stage of completing work on the Lagos Climate Adaptation and Resilient Plan, CARP.
