Nigerian Court  Grant Bail to Whistleblower Nnamdi Emeh, Orders accelerated hearing

Justice F. O. Riman of the Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State has granted bail to whistle-blower Nnamdi Ameh. The court also fixed May 24, 25, 30, and 31, 2023, for an accelerated hearing on 12 counts brought against Nnamdi Emeh by the Nigerian police.

 Emeh is the whistleblower who exposed an organ trafficking ring within the Anambra State police command.

 It had been reported that the police on May 12, 2023, first arraigned Emeh before a Federal High Court in Awka on May 12, 2023, accusing him of committing crimes that violated several regulations and laws. Mr. Emeh, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The judge subsequently reserved the ruling on the bail application to Tuesday, May 16, and remanded him in the custody of the Federal Correction Centre, Awka.

 When the bail hearing resumed on Wednesday, the trial court admitted Emeh to stringent bail conditions of N50 Million with two sureties in like sum and a deposit of his international passport.  The case was, adjourned to May 24, 25, 30, and 31, 2023 for an accelerated hearing.

 26-year-old  Mr. Emeh  Nnamdi,  a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)  and an IT consultant to the  Anambra state police command has been in detention since 3 March 2023 after he was arrested in Benin Republic for revealing shocking details about police extortion, torture, extrajudicial executions, and organ harvesting by senior police officers in Anambra state.

The police are also accusing  Nnamdi Emeh of hacking into one Mr Chibuike Martins Ekwueme’s accounts and fraudulently transferring N47,000,000 to fourteen (14) different accounts owned by him (Nnamdi E)
