Popular human rights activist and broadcaster Theodore Chinonso Uba, also known as NonsoNkwa, was abducted this morning by several hooded men suspected to be security agents. Eyewitnesses said  NonsoNkwa, who is a radio presenter with Ozisa 96.1 Fm Owerri was accosted by the men in two vehicles in front of Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri , Imo state while he was on his way home after his morning duties.

Sources said he is currently held at the state   CID, Owerri, and will be taken to Abuja in the coming hours.

NonsoNkwa, who is also the coordinator of ‘’Protect the Weak International Foundation (PROWIF), a human rights group, has been very critical of the ongoing killings in Imo state and had on several occasions called out the Imo state government over its role in the violence.

In July 2022, Mr. NonsoNkwa cried out about his safety, accusing security agents of coming after him after his radio station OsisaFm was shut down by the Federal Government and his house surrounded by security agents. The incident  came after the  National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) shut down the radio station on the Imo State government’s alleged order for reporting the facts of the July 17 killing of 14 wedding guests in Awomama in Oru East Local Government Area of the state by the Ebubeagu Security operatives
