Bashiru Ahmed Olamilekan during his court appearance

Recently released Journalist/Blogger Bashiru Ahmed Olamilekan is currently sick and in need of urgent medical help, NOHR has learned.

Bashiru a blogger, and publisher of EaglesForeSight spent 135 days in Abeokuta Correctional Center after his arrest over a story published on his blog.  He was released on Tuesday, September 27  ahead of his October 6 court hearing, following widespread outrage over his continued detention

The news report culled from People’s Gazzette Online newspaper narrated how the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun was convicted of fraud in the United States of America.

The State Security Services(SSS) had arrested Bashiru over an allegation of character defamation and cybercrime, citing a publication made by the blogger on April 27, 2022.

A closed Family source told NOHR  on Friday that  Bashiru is down with typhoid fever and severe pain in his knees and ankles due to the brutal torture he was subjected to throughout his detention. “If he is not given proper treatment by the end of today, he might not make it,” said the source.
