ABUJA- The Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU)  has suspended its eight-month-old strike, NOHR can confirm.

The decision, which is yet to be announced officially, was taken at the National Executive Council, NEC,  of the Union on Friday morning, in Abuja.

But the strike, according to a source at the meeting, held at the ASUU national secretariat, located on the premises of the University of Abuja, was suspended conditionally.

The meeting which began Thursday evening was attended by all states and zonal branch executive members of the union.

ASUU embarked on the strike on 14 February 2022, to press home its demands from the federal government. Some of the demands include the release of revitalization funds for universities, renegotiation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement, release of earned allowances for university lecturers, and deployment of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS).
