The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Adamawa State branch, has demanded justice for a female journalist Nafeesah Vandi.  Mrs.  Vandi, a broadcaster working with the Adamawa State Broadcasting Commission, Yola, was allegedly brutalized by her husband Ibrahim Aliyu, a former worker with the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria.

In a statement jointly signed by the Union  Chairman, Donald Dedan; and Secretary, Fidelis Jocktan, the union condemned the alleged battering of Vandi by her husband.

The NUJ,  urged the police authorities who had apprehended the suspect to ensure diligent investigation and prosecution, describing the attack as wicked and barbaric.

The union said it would not condone the beating of any woman to stupor, let alone a professional by her husband.

“Though the police have already swung into action in investigating and arresting the perpetrator of the domestic violence, the NUJ calls for a more speedy action into the investigation and prosecution of Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, in accordance with the law and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
